Try this:

1. Remove all auxiliary power sources, including the Real-time Clock (RTC) battery.

2. Disconnect the AC Power.

3. Wait for five minutes.

4. Reconnect the AC power.

5. Restart the computer. NOTE: During the Power-On Self Test (POST), the message "162 System Options not set"
will appear.

6. Shut Down the computer and disconnect AC power again.

7. Replace the real-time clock battery.

8. Install the battery pack(s).

9. Restart the computer. In case you have any further questions, do not hesitate to contact us by email or
by calling your Compaq Customer Care Center, which is listed in the documentation you received with your product.

Remove power adapter, remove main battery and disable CMOS battery, (i.e remove all auxilliary power to notebook)

Then press and hold the power button for about 30 SECONDS or a little bit more... after that connect the mains power adapter alone and check...

You can then shutdown and connect other disabled batteries including the CMOS and main..

Good Luck,,
