Checking for valid IMEI

Hi!

What's the algo for checking if an IMEI is valid?

The last digit is some kind of control number, but what the algo for calculating if an IMEI number is valid?

Thanks mate!

Anyone knows if there's already made a javascript or PHP script that does check if an IMEI (entered in a form) is valid or not? If not, I'll try to make it myself...

Try the second link and select "view source". There is a JavaScript source.

I saw that, but it's not exactly what I want/need - but I'll take a look again :-)

Is it possible to determine which phone it is, by looking at the IMEI number?

35xxxxxxxxxxxxx is Nokia 3510
35yyyyyyyyyyyyy is Nokia 3510i
35zzzzzzzzzzzzz is Nokia 6310i
etc.

(I only need this for DCT4, but data about all phones are welcome :-)

Where do I find a list of these "type approval codes"?

And there's not just ONE code for each phone, right. I can see alot of different codes for the same model...

That's a problem, but you might try an incomplete list at www.nobbi.com

Hi again!

I have a customer who have a Nokia 3110 with this IMEI: 490165105268360.

It DOESN'T have a valid luhn check digit? How come?

Haven't IMEI numbers always used the luhn check digit?
