problems at dell please help me!!! - GSM-Forum

hello to all! i just have instaled xp on my pc but we dont want semm to get start! Pc stop when is gonna to make boot to start xp and stay a trace blinking at left superir top of screen!

I have tried win 98 and pc worked fine so i dont think is hw problem!

i also have tried hard drive in other pc and work fine xp there! any one have any ideia how to solve this?

just try to update your BIOS and it should be fine

just got a problem i dont have an external disquete drive!!

is it possible doing with other thing or maybe using desktop or something like that?

hmmm will be difficult m8...maybe u can try Usb key and make it boot from key so it can upload new Bios,but not sure if it will work !

can i use a normal disquete drive from a normal desktop?

format u're hard drive with NTFS PARTITON in normal formatting (no fast) if u're HDD is up than 30GB.

please help me! now i have a usb drive for disquete and also usb drive for cd rom but i dont seem to my pc make boot in any of them! i select on bios but no result!

when i run diagnostics it makes all test and goes all well until the last one that give an error that is

No diagnostics utility partition found! To run diagnonistics insert your Dell "Drivers and Utilities" Cd, then select ok to restastr cd and boot of the cd
ok or cancel!!

any ideia how to solve this?`i dont have any disk!

ok friend, so better is to try this:

- Insert win98 cd, boot on it, and install win98, after installation done, insert winXP cd(in win98 environement) autorun will start and choise in menu UPDATE (not new installation).

this must work.

Also, u can check with fdisk if there is one partion in u're HDD (maybe 2GB) maked by the manufacturer for the systeme recovery storage. if this partion exist it is maybe the problem that u have.

and is not possible to get that cd some other place? no one have it? because if some one have it i would create the partition and after instal
