Unlocking and upgrading in the USA


Is it legal to unlock and upgrade phones in the USA?

Let me ask this: Is it legal to unlock and upgrade software elsewhere? Where can I find info on this?

i haven't talked to an attorney but, what i have found out is basically its ok to unlock and upgrade the software. You are not allowed to touch the IMEI.

But i'm only about half sure of this. This is the laws around the world it seems.

Yes i've been running an unlock business out of the U.S. and everyone asks if its legal. THe ony thing you cannot do is change an IMEI number, that would allow stolen phones to be used without trace. As far as unlocking, if t-mobile does it why can't I hehe.
