in my carrier receive many dead short phones some was repaired after hard work of hours some returned without repair----
chinese make a tool short killer 60$ find out shortage and repair phones..

CHECK THIS PHONE FULL SHORT

CHANGE METER PROBE STILL FULL SHORT

3-
OPEN ANY POWER BANK AND REMOVE BATTERY

4-
CONNECT GROUND BLACK POINT TO GROUND AND RED ON BATTERY +
JUST FOR 3 SECONDS.

5-
AND YOU WILL GETT BURN CAPACITOR LIKE THIS SOME CASEES IC PROBLEM THEN IC WILL HEATUP USE FLUX OR SPRAY TO FIND
MINE WAS CAPACITOR

6-
FINALY REMOVE BURN CAPACITOR AND PHONE IS WORK
<BEFORE I WAS WORK ON 2 J1 REMOVE ALMOST EVERYTHING CAP IC ON BOARD SPENT HOURS BUTT SHORTAGE WAS NOT REMOVED>
BUTT TODAY ITS TOOK 2 SECOND

IFF SHORTAGE NOT DETECT INCREAS VOLTAGE 3,4,5....
ITS IMPORTANT FOR BOARD SAFETY HIGY VOLTAGE MAY DAMAGE PRINTS OR CPU OR EMMC OR ANOTHER SO START WITH 2 VOLTS

change meter probe still full short

open any power bank and remove battery

4-
connect ground black point to ground and red on battery +
just for 3 seconds.

5-
and you will gett burn capacitor like this some casees ic problem then ic will heatup use flux or spray to find
mine was capacitor

6-
finaly remove burn capacitor and phone is work
<before i was work on 2 j1 remove almost everything cap ic on board spent hours butt shortage was not removed>
butt today its took 2 second

as i write we are going to make it free eery one so post your idea and pictures here to improove and add more fetures in short killer tool
my ideas
1-can add fuse 0f 5 to 10 amp for safety

2- can add voltage regulator
battery mostly give 3 to 5 volts
butt we can rgulate and start checking from 2 volts
iff shortage not detect increas voltage 3,4,5....
Its important for board safety higy voltage may damage prints or cpu or emmc or another so start with 2 volts

u had a good idea about reopening short circuit and finding short but i think it will cause trouble if wil mislead how to use ur newly invented tool. beside that not all short u will find in that way make a new good voltage cicuit analyser to find voltage drop i d folowing circuit... but i really appreciate ur concerned

with diy shortkiller , my doubt is ..voltage regulator like LM317 or i can to use a transistor as you wrote ? already done with lm317 but it has a SPC (short protection) when give injection with 2v power goes stop .. thanks

it can be dangerous for pcb it s better to use power supply because you dont have current limit

and use a thermal camera to detect the faulty area
