I have reflowed chipsets on motherboards and recently i have reflowed an xbox360's processor and GPU successfully and got it working. I think you should be able to remove a DIMM socket with some ingenuity. I too was curious about this. If some people can do it with hotair, why not with infrared? Do either of you guys fix motherboards too?

1-use your solder iron and wick to remove the solder joints from teh lower side
2-use for ramp stage the preheater till it become 80 degree in park mode adjusted in re flow
3-use also the lower heater for the preheating stage till it become 120 degree
4-soak and removal you should use upper heater hight at 8 cm from your target for 1 minutes upper heater in re flow mode and preheater in reflow mode also when temp reach 180 -185 your socket should be removed you have to use hard strong tweezer.

Thank you
