Member: 1844937 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 0 | questions about setool, sony vivaz unlock I recently gained access (completely legally!) to a potentially large number of cellphones - Sony Ericcson vivaz, U5at, at&t branded. I've researched what I could to understand unlocking, and it seems that setool is the best tool available (do I have that right?). The att software seems really poor - based on trying to use it, and comparing the att manual to the S-E manual. It looks like ATT crippled the capabilities, then wants to sell the original capability back through apps. My immediate goal is to try to unlock and unbrand one of these phones. (I travel overseas quite a bit.) From what I have read there is a huge difference in unlockability depending on the software AID number - 0001-0003 are fine, but 0004 is a killer. Of course I have no clue what I have. I have three of these phones in my possession, and am playing with one of them. The IMEI number is 012197000133033. If there are other numbers on the phone or box that wold be useful in determining what the AID number is, please ask and I'll post them. If someone would attempt to generate an unlock code for me, I would appreciate it. If it turns out that SEtool can do this for free or 1 credit, I'll buy settool myself. Otherwise, I'll just do 1 phone for now, through att -- I got a throwaway account for that purpose. I think I've seen software to do the unbranding; I'd be happy to hear suggestions though. Thanks to all -- poodle |
