Red face Chinese Ciphone 3g single sim tri-band

I recently got what was advertised as a CIPHONE 3g with 16gb single sim triband (900/1800/1900). I think it is a MTK6225 but i am not sure i did a data check with software and this is what it said:
Mobile Manufacturer: +CGMI: MTK1
Mobile Phone Model: +CGMM: MTK2

I have not been able to get this phone to register my TMobile (USA) sim card. It keeps telling me that "registration fails" or sometimes it doesnt pick up the network.

The sim card is unlocked, is working fine (i can still use it in my old samsung).

I am trying to find out if there is a way to change the phones frequency setting to GSM1900, which is TMobile USA band.

I dont see a menu that allows me to do so, perhaps in engineere mode. Unfortunately I do not have an engineer code or other code that would allow me to do this.

I tried the code *#110*10# to go into engineer mode but that does nothing.

Any help or suggestion will be greatly appreciated!

I have the exact same problem. Were you able to find a solution?
