Verizon Blackberry Storm 9350 Unlocked!

Today I went to the store and played with a Verizon Blackberry Storm demo phone to see if I could get Tornado SIM to work with it.

After after an hour or so I finally landed on a working firmware and setting combination. An important note about this Verizon phone is that is not network locked. It is SIM locked to the Vodafone sim that comes with the phone. This means that you must read the original IMSI from the SIM that the phone came with, and use the entire number.

Firmware: v2.15
Fake IMSI: Use Original IMSI From Verizon/Vodafone SIM
IMSI Mask: 111111111111111
Sequence: 010000000000000000000000

I was able to use my T-Mobile USA SIM and successfully make and receive calls. EDGE data also appeared to work fine. I didn't have a whole lot of time to play with it but it did appear to be stable for about 15 mintues before I had to leave and give the phone back.

I did notice while mucking around with the settings that I was getting a network error every time I booted up the phone, even when using the settings above. After I removed my T-Mobile SIM and put it back in my normal phone, and then put it back in the Storm, I was able to get everything working.

At this point I would say that it works somewhat, but it could definitely use some improvements in stability.

Sorry guys, I had a typo with the model number. The Storm is the BlackBerry 9530, not the 9350.

The Verizon Storm does indeed have a SIM slot and a quad-band GSM radio. It is the only Verizon phone that I can think of that has this feature.

However, it is SIM locked to the specific Vodafone SIM that comes preinstalled, so you'll have to use the IMSI from that sim.
