They are dynamic, but it is possible to get a static for $3/ month.

I know off and on, there have been several posts, or questions, regarding the correct procedure to actually getting Opera Mini to work. Here, I have a clear, and hopefully straightforward guide to getting it to run without crashing. Hopefully, it will be the definitive work, be clear, and easy to understand, to help avoid confusion. I apologize for the long post, but please try to follow the directions step by step.

Step #1. Uninstall Opera Mini if it is installed.

Step #2. Uninstall Java, IBM Websphere, etc., if installed.

(For these, I recommend Uninstall Manager).

Step #3. Go to this link:

http://websphere-everyplace-micro-en...tonic.com/palm

(thanks RogueSaber!) and download it.

Step #4. Extract the .zip file to a place you will remember it, and be able to find it. Once extracted, go into the WEME571JVM directory, then go to the JVM directory, then go to the ARM4T directory. Once there, you will need to install 2 files only.

Step #5. Install J9JavaVMMidp20.prc and JavaVMCheck_enUS.prc via hotsync. These are the only two files needed, for an English translation. For other localized copies, please try to insert the one that corresponds to your needs.

Step #6A. THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT STEP!!!!! DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP UNLESS YOU WANT OPERA MINI TO CRASH ON YOU EVERY TIME!!!!

Step #6B. On your Treo 680, go to the Prefs application, scroll all the way to the bottom, and there will be a category, called Other. Once there, you will now see a choice called, "IBM Java VM" Click on it, and at the top, you should see an arrow pointing down. Make sure next to it, it says, "[Global Preferences]". Below it are two empty checkboxes, "Use Double Buffering", and "Use high resolution coordinates". CHECK THEM BOTH. Scroll down a bit, to the "Set Memory Maximum:" Set it to 8 Mb. Scroll down to "Set Maximum Java Thread Stack Size:" Set it to 32 Kb. Select Done.

Step #7. Install Opera Mini. If you can't find it, go to:

http://www.opera.com/mini/download/

Step #8. Change your options inside Opera, for example, Mobile View, skins, etc.

Step #9. Enjoy this wonderful free app, now that it is no longer crashing on you!!

Finally, one other thought.
I have not experimented with the 8Mb and 32Kb settings, so I don't know if other settings options will work or will be more optimized. I also have not tested this on any other PALM, other than the Treo 680, as that is the only one I have. If it doesn't work for you, on a different device, I'm sorry, but can be of no further assistance there. That's it. Opera Mini is a wonderful browser and far more advanced than Blazer, the built-in browser on the Treo 680. Please make sure you read the help file in Opera Mini, so that you can learn all of the navigation shortcuts. Enjoy!

Thanks, Mapsking

If anyone finds this useful, please say thank you.
brother works perfect, i try with other tutos but never work for me, and i want say to others spanish user dont try install J9JavaVMMidp20_es.prc and JavaVMCheck_esES.prc because donīt work, i try many times make step #5 without success (never appear in pref app the option"IBM Java VM") and then i installed J9JavaVMMidp20.prc and JavaVMCheck_enUS.prc and works, i could, finally, configure the java options, and opera mini in spanish run perfects, thnx a lot
