Member: 253600 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 0 | Hello, I would like to get to the bottom of this 'COM object' error as well. I too have encountered it several times on an 8100.... I have asked around several forums before and never got a straight answer. I think there are several scenarios that lead to this error, but, I am only expanding upon comments made to me by others which may be way off, so I would like to get other peoples response to this. (i) one of the tech support guys I work with had told me that this is not really an MFI error but a windows communication port error that occurs upon connecting/reconnecting of devices. According to him, and also other comments I have seen online, this error can be ignored since regardless of the error, the Multiloader has finished doing its flash/write process even though it does not complete the process of placing phone into the final '1' CAL mode. Now I am not sure how wise of an approach this is but i can tell you that on the last 8100 which gave me that error, i simply ignored the FAIL of MML and continued to install the OS from DM, without any problems; I only did this as a test to see if it worked and though I only played with it for a few minutes after install, it all seemed ok to me. (ii) another person i spoke to said it was some sort of incompatibility of with Vista and MFI 2.0.1.3. Is that the version of MML you are using? On the one hand, i can confirm that last time i saw this error was on my laptop running MFI 2.0.1.3 and vista(32)bit, AND, when i shifted back to ver.1.8 I did not notice the error and all worked well. But, on the other hand, I am quite sure that i have read of people in this forum speaking of running ver 2 on vista without any hiccups, so i don't know. (iii) Maybe ver 2.0.1.3 is always problematic with the 8100 series??? Has anyone flashed this phone with ver 2.0.1.3 before? Maybe one of you guys that really knows this stuff can give us a specific error analysis on this? Ramjan perhaps? gs |
