Unbranding a BB 8900 - GSM-Forum

ive been reading a few threads here and i just want to clarify some things. it seems MFI Multiloader will not recognize the 8900? im getting a used US T-mobile branded BB 8900 and want to unbrand it just like my Bold 9000. i used MFI and the VSM file 11697-001 to unbrand both the Bold 9000 and the Curve 8900. would it be possible to use this engineering VSM on the 8900 and also to use it with MFI? i dont have the phone yet so i cant try to connect it to MFI.

you will probably need to find someone who does surface mount rework and have them remove the flash memory, reprogram with the desired VSM and then re-solder the flash memory

Fellows:

I tried to unbrand my BB 8900 T-Mobile, but sent a error message that said: "Password protected" I can't change the VSM file using MML 2.xxx.

Do you have any idea? Can you share it with me?

No, any idea... I just have the same problem... I used MFI, JL Commander, Cracutil and nothing...

We must wait for the next MFI version
