5800 new firmware 40.0.5
 

Frimware 40.0.5 has been released for the 5800.

Does anyone know whether pm308 changes in this update? Can it be flashed directly by Cyclone from v31 or will this cause the same problems as moving from v21 to v31 (unless done via NSU)?

Also, can v40 be unlocked by the new Cyclone update?

I will make some tests as soon I have a 5800 in my hands and report .

I would imagine that even if pm308 has changed, it can still be downgraded to v31 in the methods you have described in the sticky thread on this subject, yes?

yes, for sure you can still take back to V31 or v21 if you have the full back-ups in that version :)

I have a 2 5800s. One came unlocked and the other was locked to Vodafone UK PAYG - now unlocked using cyclone (was v21 native so v simple unlock) and now running v31 (product code change).

When I get a minute I will upgrade one of them to v40 using the NSU and compare pm308 with the v31 backup and post results. Is there anything else that I could check that will be of use?

I've read that v40 in unhackable currently - if the NSU retains the hack (due to data preservation) I will remain on v40.

Once you got it in V40 would be nice a full back-up of the phone.
Afterward just put together with the back-ups in v31 in a zip file and, if you want of course, I would like a lot to have a look at them.

I have double checked and made new v31 backups before moving to v40.

However, I want to be able to go back to v31. Currently I can't get SX4 authorisation.

Is there currently a problem with the server? I do not want to go up to v40 if I can't go back to v31.

5800 firmwares has a protected 308 no need to use SX4....just write the RPL you saved...or make rpl to the pm you saved....

You need SX4 authorisation to successfully downgrade a 5800 without WD, otherwise you cannot write back pm1/309.

Actually there is an issue with the sx4 server.. may be if you want do the test you wait it is solved.
