N95 8GB "Sim card registration failed" but looks fine! HELP PLEASE.

Looking for any ideas for this problem phone.

N95 8GB came to me with "sim card registration failed". Checked with box and unlocked and all seems well (see below). Thought it was network barred/stolen but got report from "check mend" and all was fine. Checked with original network provider as well and they say it is not barred. Not sure what way to go now. Also run self test and all passed apart from last 4 which say not executed.

Any ideas?

Update update update

Tried the IMEI number in another phone and guess what, it comes up with "sim card registration failed". Tried 3 different sims and all the same so it seems like a network barred phone even after i have had it checked twice (once by myself and once by a third party) with checkmend and also with the original network provider. Not sure what can be done about it but will try Vodafone again.

Yes Samsung phone used to check imei.

Spoke to Vodafone again tonight and they now inform me that the phone is indeed blacklisted. F--K what a waste of many hours!!!!! So it just goes to show even after 2 "Checkmend" reports and my original call to Vodafone i should have stuck with my original diagnosis.

AAAAAAAAGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Night

Peetsy,

If you would like to send the IMEI to [email protected] including a copy of this comment, we will be happy to run the number and find out all the checkmend searches and block activity we have for that handset. As it states on the CheckMEND certificates and terms, we can miss handsets because the networks are only required to share the blocking information within 48 hours. There is a window therefore where it is possible that CheckMEND, along with the non-home networks are not aware of a block. If you did your two checks in this time frame that might explain the results. We always recommend best practice for anyone buying phones is to wait 48 hours from the first offer before finalising the deal. Be aware though that there are plenty of criminals out there who will sell you a phone and then block it some days or weeks later to claim on their insurance leaving you with a useless phone. We can do searches that will show when you did yours and when the block was first activated and this will prove whether CheckMEND was correct or not.

We are extremely confident in the service we provide. If you provide the number and we find that there was a genuine problem with CheckMEND there are things we can do not required by our terms of service that will ease your pain!

Regards
CheckMEND
