Talking Fighter 4.00 and Interceptor 4.00 released

Well, here we go...

Version 4.00 (8th September 2004):
  • Added RSA-removal support for AVR-based phones.
  • Added support for flashing AVR-part of RSA-protected T61x/T62x/T63x/Z60x/P910 phones (also without having to remove RSA lock).
  • Added support for flashing ARM-part of RSA-protected T61x/T62x/T63x/Z60x phones (also without having to remove RSA lock).
  • Implemented function for automatic displaying firmware languagepack and revision in 5B0702FF and 5B080201-based phones. Internal database contains data about the most common T61x, T62x, T63x, Z60x, T226, T23x, P80x, P90x, T20x, T30x, T31x, T68 and T62u firmwares. The present number of automatically recognized firmwares is 587. The following version shall allow you to contribute to this database.
  • Since the Unlock RSA function erases the whole RSA flash region, the firmware has to be restored afterwards. You may simply flash the whole AVR-firmware back to the phone, but this would be too time consuming, therefore to save your time, a special option to reflash RSA area only has been introduced. It is much faster - the time required is in order of seconds.
  • The phone type autodetection was enhanced. In practice it means even less "Phone type: Unknown" messages.
  • Previous versions were removing the RSA lock from FLP flash files automatically, now there is an option to disable this default behaviour - Relock RSA.
  • Due to some enhancements, few FLP flash files created for this version will not be backwards-compatible with the previous software versions. It is possible to flash both standard and RSA-protected phones using the same files.
  • Released a solution to upgrade P900 to P910.
  • Support for flashing Z20x phones with new flash chip type released to all Fighter users for free.
  • Modified error-handling, separate error-message window created.
  • Enhanced MDC-file messaging.
  • Corrected bug with disabled Clear and Autodetect buttons in Settings window.
  • Added support for translating the software into any language. Few languages are in beta-testing phase.
  • Fighter serial cable support has been removed - it was useless there. For old phones with 5V bus use NTZ112311 cable type.
  • Fixed a bug regarding phone charging via UC-10 cable.
  • Updated help engine.
  • Updated TAC-list for T610 and T630.
  • Little gift for people who read user manuals: You can enable System Monitor on T66/T600 phones by holding left shift key while pressing the Clear phonelock button.

Prepaid Support Area:

Recently we have announced the new concept of cheap prepaid support area. Since many of you were perturbed by our decision, we have decided to adjourn it for an indefinite period. Until then you will be getting the latest firmwares and software updates for free. The internal software time-limit will remain unchanged to force you to update regularly and to remind us to keep releasing new software versions.

New flash files:
  • We have prepared new long-awaited firmwares for P908 phones (Symbian R5A09),
  • then R6C005 signed firmwares for T610/T618/T628/T630/Z600/Z608 phones to be used for flashing without using testpoint solution and without need to remove the RSA lock. Among other things, these firmwares have to be used with fast RSA-area restore function. (R6C005 firmwares that we released few months ago will not serve to this purpose well).
  • Then released Z200/Z208 R6C firmwares, and
  • P900 to P910 upgrade flashes bringing several enhancements and support for MemoryStick Duo Pro (up to 2GB).
These files will appear on various FTPs shortly. More to come soon...

And finally, how to unlock RSA-protected phones:
  1. Attach the phone. Fighter/Interceptor (F/I) will display "RSA protection feature ACTIVE" message.
  2. Go to the Locks page and press the UnlockRSA button.
  3. F/I will remove the RSA-lock from the flash and start booting the phone in an "ordinary" way. The AVR firmware will be damaged as a side-effect of removing the RSA-lock. Therefore it has to be reflashed afterwards (in the following step).
  4. If F/I will display the firmware languagepack and version stored in the phone and you have the signed flashfile containing the same firmware, go to the Write Flash page and tick Flash RSA area only and press the Flash AVR button and select the respective firmware. The flash process should take only few seconds (less than 10). Alternatively you may flash any other AVR-firmware without ticking Flash RSA-area only, but this will take much longer to finish.

We will public much more info on this subject soon.

That's all for today, enjoy it!

Best Regards,
Lead

A great release.

As usual, all the new features work exactly as they're suppposed to. It's great to be able to attach to a RSA phone and change the langpack on it (debrand it) without having to be bothered with removing/unlocking the RSA.

asiamobile: Follow the instructions on the site, it's very easy. Make sure you include your Dongle Serial Number and the other information requested. Once completed they'll mail you your login very quickly. If you get really stuck then ask Mizar nicely for some help.
There's no point asking Lead, he doesn't have anything to do with the user accounts.
