iPhone 7 Plus Digitizer Issues After Replacement, Many Suppliers Have Same Issue

Hey guys I've owned a repair shop for over 6 years and have 4-5 regular suppliers that we use, all of my suppliers seem to be having issues with OEM iPhone 7 Plus screens. The fail rate is extremely high for the digitizers acting wonky, has anyone else experience issues with 7 Plus screens and what might be causing it? We offer OEM and aftermarket screens and the aftermarket screens have a lower fail rate than the OEM ones, which is laughable.

Hi Throatystang,

You are not alone. We also use OEM screens and touch screen faulty rate is insane. I have been talking to China repair shops and can confirm this information. Apple used Toshiba, lg sharp lcds for their phones and each of these have different touch sensitivity. This issue only happens when you use OEM screens in the iPhone 7 Plus and 8 Plus. For some reason if you don’t “match” the screen the replacement screen to the customers original screen you will have touch issues.

On the backlight plate you will see codes starting like this

C11
F7C
DTP
C3F
DKH
C0N

So Toshiba screens have manufacturing code beginning with C11 or F7C,

LGs have DTP or C3F,

Sharps have DKH or C0N,

It’s only when you mismatch the version then you will have touch issues. Also need to make sure that the OEM screen that you are getting is not remanufactured. It needs to be either refurbished or faxconn original so you know the backlight plate hasn’t been changed so you can identify the correct screen version. If you use Copy screens they don’t have this issue. Only original screens need to match. I have tested this with number of other repair shops and this is confirmed. We haven’t had touch issue after doing this.

OEM screens are most likely remanufatured in other words Chinese shops buy all the parts and assemble it together so it will be hard to know if it’s LG, Toshiba or LG. Just make sure you are getting refurbished or Foxconn.

Hope this helps.
