What exactly is the problem?

Are your buttons to short after u placed the flexcable? Or are the buttons also too short without the flexcable installed?

Well I think you have to reopen the phone and put some tiny pieces of adhesive stip to the flexcable on top of the round metal thing which u can push in. Or put the adhesive stip on the back of the buttons, so that they cant fall back into the housing. You can fix the gap between the flex cable button and the actual button.

(this helped me)

btw. the more adhesive stip u take the more the button comes up. but if u take too much, your buttons will be permanently pushed

hi...all the copy cover have these tipe of problem so you have simply use a small cutter to dull the hole to the inside hole parts. if you're very accurate you doesn't waste the cover

Nothing to do with adhesive the actual housing is slightly thicker if you hold this cover and the original one side by side and just put the power button in on both the empty shell of the housings (no flex attached) and push it up with your finger as far as it will go it does not stick out really at all on the non-genuine housing.

Not all I have a 3G cover here that does not suffer this problem but from a different supplier I can no longer use.

Can you please explain in more detail how I could possibly fix the housing and what tool to use exactly as the bezel and camera well is now glued on I cant just go get a another housing.

Can anyone recommend a good supplier for non-genuine parts thats cheap and ships international ?

thanks

Well after a couple of hours of carefully shaving the slightest groove to the top underside of the new housing with a dremel I managed to get the button to stick out like it should, but it still did not work with the flex it depressed back to what it was doing before so I then shaved a little off the flex plastic where the screws go through to raise it to match the new button position then took a tiny cut off a dymo material label and stuck it to the flex button and it now feels exactly like it should happy I solved this one thanks for the suggestions guys I can finally put this phone back together.

I would love to know where I could buy a cheap housing that do not suffer the same problems as this for the 3gs any suggestions?
