I did this and it does not work

Connect phone to PC
Pull down phone's screen
Select any connection mode except "USB Mass Storage device"
After that run unlock operation according

Select Qualcomm platform
Go to Unlock tab
Select Motorola USB Diagnostic Port
press unlock

You don't need to use adb mode to unlock this phone

@ chipscell25,

As it was earlier mentioned by other users, Direct Unlock operation is getting performed improper, that is why such an error appears.
Double check manual on the Direct Unlock operation for A956 phone model and perform it exactly as it is stated in there.
