I assume the mic is supposed to be located just next to the usb port, on the bottom side of the board? I got this board from eBay and it has had some rework done, perhaps it was removed? Pulling my hair out trying to find it...

yes it is on bottom side , near usb port , smal golden one ... if you cant find it , means somebody already took it out...find replacement , from SE-k550

small update: to get best quality exactly as original, please use R=0,7k and mic have to be at 1k resistance. as example I used mic at 1,7k resistance and was very very quiet.

HTC Desire HD...mic swap out

This is quite an old post, but...I am sitting at my desk with a Desire HD in pieces following a mic failure...I have a new mic and thought that I would check the resistance across the tabs before attempting a swap out.
My fluke cant actually measure anything across the pads as shown in the diagram posted previously...I think I should be able to measure around 1k ?, but I have nothing except a short between two of the pads and the case of the mic...Is the 1k resistance external to the mic?...and also, how do you solder this in when you have no access to the pads as they are situated on the underside of the mic? ...Thanks
