128k 3G solution is near.. - GSM-Forum

Interesting please read!!!

Iphone 5 GSM ios 7.0.4. No jailbreak.
128k sim card cut to nano.

1.carrier select, I chose "iphone 4s ios 6" and "carrier that phone is locked to"
2.reboot
3. iROse and "force 3g"
4. Reboot
5. Shows my carrier but signal bars are empty, which means no calls / sms.
6. FUNNY THING: 3G is showing next to carrier and internet is working 100% at 3g speeds....

That means that 3g is NOT a hardware issue with 128k cards. Rsim can support 3g with 128k cards.

We can find the solution.

Confirmed, it works in iPhone 5 CDMA iOS 7.0.4 (128k sim)

Just the same, empty signal bars but 3G speed.

I posted this solution last night.
A suggestion for your no bars signal: try airplane mode on then off, wait for a minute.

Or

Force 2g once again and once you get signals with 2g then force 3G again.
It should work.

I am on sprint iphone 4s 7.0.6 with 3G right now.

This doesn't work with ios 7.0.6 iphone sprint 5 jailbroken and unlocked with rsim 9 turbo. I chose 4s ios 6 from rsim applications and it just stalls the phone at ""activation required" screen.

Try force 2g through irosetool before inserting the sim, after you force 2g then insert the sim, this way it avoids the activation screen. You gotta play around with it, you will eventually find a solution.

Of course credits goes to muddashir, I saw your post before starting this one as you said about "iphone 4s". I just wanted to make a new post so more people start testing and finally we can find a "stable" solution for all of us! Also I am testing on "iphone 5"

Also maybe with some carrier replacing with ifile ( jailbreak)should fix empty bars. Anyone who can explain the fact that 3g is working but signal bars are empty( no calls/sms) ? Very weird....

Yup, i saw the post...

In some cases, (my weird case) on a Iphone 4s doesn't popup the RSIM Menu, so you cant select the iDevices and the iOS, so we cant test this, i can select the Carrier and no more.

This is already knowed for Iphone 4s?

Back on the thread, i'm proud to help you, i want 3g on my 128K.

I can't get any heat on my thread as I see we are having similar issues. As far as google and threads go I have what I believe to be the first ntelos iPhone 5c unlocked within the US. Operating on 7.0.4 and on straight talk piggybacking off AT&T I'm using rsim pro and am having the following issues:

Only able to unlock and identify sim post boot with sim removed.
Have to remove sim on reboot given info above.
Cannot obtain 3G. Still shows enable lte under cellular settings. Has spoofed to enable 3G when ***** sim is in place but then goes to activation. After reinserting the complete deal it will bypass and unlock.
When I lose signal I have to refer to above due to invalid sim sim error. Repeating the boot process.
I can't read Chinese but I think I installed the correct packages for rsim. Irose will switch me from 2 g to nothing. Back to 2g. Nothing of the sort like you getting 3G. I'm using a nano provided by straighttalk should be 4g lte not sure of k? But in my area it would only be 3G. Please help ntelos is a small market but it's like a Verizon iPhone. Hell they'll probably be bought by Verizon soon.
