Well actual is not Hardware problem is a R-sim Firmware Problem !!!
Hardware - he mean that 128k/256k sim card use different chip than 32/64k sim cards ... So atm only 32/64k sim are compatible with R-sim and other unlock products ...
For me for example only for iPhone 4S - work - 32/64/128/256k SIM on 80% of locked iPhones
For iPhone 5/5c/5s - we still waiting Firmware FIX ...

3G works on 25% of 64K SIMs in the USA for iPhone 5. I tried many different SIM cards here, and only 2 out of 8 regular SIMs cut to nano size got 3G/4G signal(no LTE of course).

The method above is only necessary for Sprint iPhone 5. You do not need it for AT&T or other GSM iPhone 5/5C/5S. Only iRose patch is necessary for those unless you have 64K SIM card that supports 3G with R-SIM.

Turn on the airplane mode, wait for a second. And then turn it off again. Your phone will back to edge again if you using irose tools.
Or you can use force 2G button in irose tools.
