Member: 46727 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 0 | Question about imei unlocking process I am trying to learn how the process of unlocking gsm phones works. I have a pretty basic question which I hope someone here can educate me with the answer to. Q: When entering an unlock code in phone, does the code validation process occur on the phone or on an operator server? Or more specifically, which of the following scenarios occur when trying to unlock a phone. A: 1. Unlock code entered in phone. 2. Phone validates the unlock code. Validation code resides in the phones ROM/firmware. 3. If validation successful, phone sends unlock request to operator server. 4. Phone is now unlocked. or B: 1. Unlock code entered in phone. 2. Phone sends entered unlock code and IMEI number to operator. Validation code resides server side. 3. If validation successful, operator unlocks phone. ( How would it do this? Removing IMEI number from list of locked phones?) 4. Phone is now unlocked. or C: Something else entirelly. Thanks! touchdown |

Do you have any experience with the WISMO GSM module from www.wavecom.com? I am trying to find out what type of machine code is in the WISMO firmware. It does not seem to be ARM. Thanks again, touchdown | |
