grey lcd

All you need to do is inspect the pcb connector for the lcd you will find 1 of the pins is stuck and is not connecting to the lcd half. Very gently using the tip of a scalpel blade and a magnifier you can release the stuck pin.
Do not apply hot air you will distort the connector and finding a replacement could be difficult.
