Question Need Help: Move Message from iPhone 4S to iPhone 5?

I was using iPhone 4S and I have some important messages in it. Now I got an iPhone 5 and want to transfer those messages to the new iPhone. One solution is to backup iPhone 4S and use the restore option on iPhone 5 to get everything there. I have never tried this, does it actually work? Will it install all the apps too? What will it restore? I am trying to have a fresh new start with my iPhone 5. I dont want my bogus apps to appear in the new iPhone 5 or the settings, etc.

When u take a backup on iTunes it includes ur contacts, messages, notes, pictures and all the personalization's u have made on ur iPhone (i.e. settings). So when u restore this backup to any other iPhone, u will have all the above data on ur new iPhone. About applications, if u have installed them through the computer u r taking backup on then they will also b installed otherwise no. Anyways, u can delete the apps anytime u want...
