iphone 3g 2.2.1 unlock

i dont understand y my thread was deleted. i need help unlockng an iphone 3g 2.2.1.im new to iphone n have tried reading old posts to make some sense n im getting nowhere.forgive my ignorance but i need HELP! do i need to upgrade this to a higher version or is there a soft i can do it all at once...

First identify whether it is a 3G or 3Gs, if a 3G upgrade to firmware 3.1.2, if it is a 3G upgrade do not try because the only version that will leave you utilzar the itunes 3.1.3 and now is unable to unlock

i think its a 3G,WATS D DIFFERENCE PLZ..and after upgrade wat do i do ?tnx a lot for reply

If you have active roles, go to settings / general / on and check which firmware you have, put it here and I'll tell you, if you can not do this, the conventional method, check the back, if the logo and letters are in shiny silver 3Gs is one, if instead the logo and letters are opaque is a 3G
