iphone 3G stucked on apple logo pl help

Hi All,

I have iphone 3G(3.1.2) jailbroken using blackrain few months back and have been using it without any issues. the only new app I downloaded in last couple of months was opera browser a week back. Today I received call and while talking phone crashed. somehow it wont start.
I shutdown the the phone by holding home and power button for 10 mins then connected to my laptop using USB. iTunes detects phone without error but asking me to restore to factory version and upgrade the firmware. Obviously I don't want to do that as I will be loosing whole media , apps and unlock. How do I restore this ? unfortunately I do have month old backup but itunes (8) doesnt allow me to restore that. How do I fix this? how did this happened when I never done any upgrade or replace any file on phone?

Does anyone has solution? thanks and any help is much appreciated
