it's impossible new baseband by toshiba..still X-gold as usual, but someone mention new chip in other thread, I can't check, but if this true and some hardware really changed, only NOR make sense (labelled) what else could be?

look at old phones (2g) with damaged nor seczone invalid data (0049 imei).. need to revirginize or replace comm board to fix

well...i am waiting of some adress for the baseband location, need to make some tests , if pinout for baseband flashing is correct and adress are ok , than something can be done... but waiting...
and yes the 2g had that problem but they had an open JTAG connection, good baseband dump and that is why revirginizing was possible, plus 3gs has baseband conected to serial number and imei as far as i know , simular to 4g

well you can fix with hardware by replacing, but - these are under warranty still...  so customer not gonna be happy to open right?

3gs creates backup of static EEP + I think it still showed EBL?..don't have any to check :(

I had older unit damaged on 07.10 after unplugging few times during flash erase- after sending +xdrv=10,2 ...any baseband scripts in ramdisk with sleep disabled or online with properly unloaded commcenter for me just pings out completely- even when left for hours; old bbupdater- Failed to initialize comm layer cannot query modem directly

but I could still query

(injected) with minicom no problem, so you can see the problem was not major.. before itunes log show radio-corrupted stack. I set back old state, wipe nvram and restore baseband after upgrade and wifi/ bluetooth back on instead of 0000, not sure what fixed it, but IMEI was still present during the whole time so it wasn't the same ...

maybe you don't need to even replace any chip? only way is to spend some time to check :)

iPhone serials beginning with QR are refurb/replacement handset from Apple store, so it's a mixed bag... but personally I would not risk unless you can directly check

Version is 4.3.5 with baseband 5.14.
A lot of jailbreakers and unlockers have encountered that when you update this baseband to 6.15 to unlock it,
You got corrupted baseband and it cannot used anymore.
Symptoms are:
No wifi
No ECID
No Imei
No bluetooth

as of now all informations i've got is all serial up to XXX109XXX is risky to update baseband.

XX109XX = 1 is the year of 2011 and 09 is week 9 of 1 year.
so if serial is XX931XXX means 2009 with week 31.
and its safe to update baseband.

Much better check the serial first before you update to baseband 6.15
