When you purchase an official 'factory unlocked iphone' and connect to iTunes to activate it Your iphone sends an encypted, or 'hashed' combination of ' ltoken+norid+chipid+NCK+RSA' (thanks geohot ) to Apple servers, they compare the hashed response with the corresponding valid NCK token to unlock your handset The 15 digit Nck codes have been succesfully retrieved from legitimately unlocked iPhones, but since each is unique this is useless atm unless a relationship can be guessed from the NCK codes (for example all german phones NCK began with the number 3) ... people are wondering whether IMSI or IMEI has anything to do with it If a relationship could be established then we could begin work on an NCK generator, even if a full relationship is not established it will shorten the length and possible allow a bruteforce attack to take place ------------ if a correct NCK code was calculated, you can send it as an AT command to the iphone using this command AT+CLCK="PN",XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (obviously the XXXX would be the NCK code) and you would have a fully unlocked iphone ---------------------------------- If i'm wrong, forgive me .............. I am currently running a fully unlocked iphone 2g on the 3.0 firmware & I have been working towards a software unlock solution for the iPhone 3g running 3.0 beta firmware, I have a few very interesting bits of info i have found in the new firmware but nothing concrete, i would look forward to anyone sharing some knowledge to work towards a solution. GsmWorld, or anyone else that wants to work please PM me Cheers; Gecko |

Member: 961957 Status: Offline Sonork: Jabber: [email protected] Thanks Meter: 641 | Sorry was meant to say GSMman, Not gsmWorld Anyway, I know TA_Mobile had come up with a hardware unlock solution as well, which involved removing the S-GOLD baseband chip, reprogramming it and soldering it back on... I'm not 100% certain wether that works with 2.30 but in theory it should as he is programming directly and overwriting with a 5.08 bootloader which he managed to dump earlier. + progress is being made on the iPhone Linux port, which will allow us to run code unrestricted of Apples limitations. And in the new firmware Apple has allowed us to interact with the 30 pin dock connector as a serial interface sending commands either through the the linux port linux or new 3.0 software ... Hmmm surely this opens up some extra possibilities?? if anyone has any experience with the iphone unlocking and or/ serial interfaces or even just wants to lend a hand please pm me... I'm interested in forming a small group, as myself and a workmate have already made a few discoveries |
