one step closer, now asks for code with new firmware but still not unlocked
deleted everything off of the card itself
using 1.12 chose 626s option, rebooted with card in blinks white trying to go to ftm, hangs for a sec, boots then asks for unlock code

Hello. I have metro branded 626s as well, and have put the unbranded firmware file successfully onto the device. Afterwards, I have retried twice to unlock via xtc2clip. I boots to ftm mode, get a white screen with some words on top for a very short time, that I cannot read (looks like old legacy mode white screen for clean s58). Then it goes black screen for a few seconds, then reboots. After reboot, it still asks for unlock code. I tried 00000000 as code, still doesn't work. Any suggestions? I believe the unlock hash is located in rfg_8 partition. If someone with unlocked 626s could dump the first two sectors (1024 bytes) of this partition, I could compare to my locked hash. Command for this would be "fastboot oem read_mmc emmc 383546 3 1 1". Only works in fastboot bootloader mode, not in download mode, by the way.

1. S-OFF phone (if not yet)
2. Repeat the unlock process 2-3 times, sometimes it may fail, but as nothing is displayed on the screen, we can't find what's going on.
3. There is no unlock hash in HTC, only lock flag. Code cannot be recovered. So reading rfg_8 won't help you.

Phone is already s-off, or would not have accepted unbranded firmware. I have repeated many times, with original metropcs firmware, then with tmobile firmware, then with cricket firmware, then with your posted firmware. If you look here: Sim Unlock. Free!! - CONFIRMED WORKING | HTC One (M9) | XDA Forums , you will see that for unlocking the m9, that is all they changed. When unlocked, it has a different hash, but same for all unlocked. Locked for all gsm m9 also have same hash there. I thought maybe it was same for this model. Can't hurt to check as a possibility.

I have tried "fastboot erase rfg_8", and it does clear it all out. (0x00's). As soon as phone boots up, it puts the same hash there as before (locked hash). Also have tried to write arbitrary 1024 bytes, to see if it sticks through reboots, and it does, it doesn't revert to original hash. So I'm confident that if someone dumps their unlocked 626s rfg_8 partition via "fastboot oem read_mmc emmc 383546 3 1 1", I can create the rfg_8.img file, and simply flash it as "fastboot flash rfg_8 rfg_8.img", then reboot, and it should be unlocked.
