how to convert Imate JAM from 850/1800/1900 to 900/1800/1900 ??

HI

can anybody help me to convert the Imate Jam from 850/1800/1900 to 900/1800/1900.

I have been told by some technicians that it is hardware related but not on a major scale, its just a matter of changing the antenna.
According to them the Imate Jam is QUAD BAND but the antenna can only accomadate 3 frequencies at a time therefore u get either 850/1800/1900 or 900/1800/1900.

can anybody confirm this theory ?
Mayb some1 that has both types of the phones and can try to interchange the antennas to see if this is true.

Hope to hear from some1 soon.

regards

hi

@fuzionGSM
thanx for your reply but im not sure if u read my post propely!!
anyways the reason i didnt try that most obvios thing is because I dont have the other type. i have only the 900/1800/1900.

can any1 in america test this for me as it would probably be easier you. all u have to do is take 1 that works on 850/1800/1900 and swap the antenna with 1 that works on 900/1800/1900 and see if it wil work on the new frequency and vice versa.

I don't think it is possible to change the bands, other then to change some hardware on the board of the device...

Hi

do u perhaps have the phone then u can take out the antenna and have a look underneath. it shows either 850MHz or 900MHz. i managed to come across 1 but this 1 is a 850MHz type. it has this written on the back of the antenna.

@waleed2

Hi

i have already changed the antenna from a 900MHz model and placed it into a 850 MHz, but unfortunately it does not work!! I still cannot get 900 MHz on my american model.

or do u mean some other component ??

have a look at the attached pics, 1 is a PM10C (850/1800/1900) and the other is a PM10A (900/1800/1900).

can u point out which component i need to change please ?

Regards
