Microsoft Dongle

I have a MS dongle that came with my keyboard and mouse. Any ideas on the ID's that should be put in the btwusb.inf file?

OK I found the thread for this
http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/show...hlight=widcomm

but it turns out there's no audio profile for the dongle.

I'm using a different dongle now, but the license error keeps popping up. Sorry but can anyone tell me what to do?? It's getting so frustrating trying to find this information.

Someone needs to mention the license.dat file needs to be in the driver folder and then patched...

Anyone have any trouble pairing the mouse and keyboard?

Here is my problem:

I removed 5.1.0.1100 and went to install 5.1.0.1700. Won't install. Says it cannot upgrade the Widcomm BlueTooth Stack.

What folder is the Widcomm BlueTooth stack located in??

I guess I need to remove it to install.

Can't install the previous version now either. Comes up with same error.

Now, my BlueTooth does not work at all because I can't install any version due to the above mentioned error..

Any help???

TIA

Bill

Fixed that problem. Now it tells me that a later version is installed and won't continue.

Still can't install it.

How do I get rid of this???

TIA

Post Bluetooth USB dongle Driver and Guides

Bluetooth USB dongle Driver and Guides

The archive indicated below contains three alternative Bluetooth drivers:
- Bluesoleil VoIP Edition 2.1.3.0
- Toshiba Bluetooth 2.0 Driver 4.00.35
- WIDComm BTW 5.1.0.1700

The necessary Apirin against headaches is also included, such as
- installation and troubleshooting guides plus a few tips & tricks
- WIDComm BTW Driver Patcher 2.00
- WIDComm BTW License Patcher 1.7

Make sure to read the .doc, .pdf and .txt files before you begin with the setup procedure! They answer more questions than you would ever dare to ask, and also contain plenty of links to even more resources.

I'm having the same problem with 1700 that I had with 1100.

Whenever I switch between user accounts on the same machine, I have to manually "Stop the Bluetooth Device" (from the context menu on the BT tray icon) then restart it. Aside from that, it works fine, both in XP Pro (before) and Vista Beta 2 (now).

The same user account problem occurs in both operating systems.

Will that mailbox accept a 100 MB attachment (file is over 70 MB and there is 25% overhead)?

1. Uninstall ALL existing Bluetooth drivers.

2. Replace the file BTWUSB.INF contained in the BTW\Win32 folder of the WidComm v5.1.0.1700 package with the corresponding file from the v5.1.0.1100 package (found in another thread in this forum).

3. Install v5.1.0.1700. If it complains that no Bluetooth adapter is found, install anyway.

4. Run the included license patcher.

5. Reboot.

If you haven't been following the threads on this forum, you'll probably need to do some reading to get a feel for making these Bluetooth drivers work. It's not real tough, but if you haven't been following along for a while, it will probably not be very clear.
Your post is the first one to highlight what to do with the files available. Yes, I have read other threads and they talk about all sorts of crap that is unrelated to each other. For example, some of the "new" methods require some seemingly ubiquitous "patched" files, yet I don't see any threads with them available. If I do somehow obtain them, are the patched files compatible with this driver release?. For example, there was a package containing a definitive list of hardware incorporated into the btwusb.ini files. This package, I learned through reading the files themselves, are different versions to the latest Widcomm driver download in this thread! In addition I haven't seen a thread that lists how you change the files yourself if you don't have the syntax of the hardware you possess. Some of the methods look really simple yet they mention things such as "The Patched" files without saying how you get them in the first place and if they are compatible with driver X. In this release, there is a licence patcher without any documentation on when to use it. You are the only one who addressed what to do with the files available (and I'm half sure there is something you neglected to mention).

I am new the forum and have been attempting to get my MAc Book Pro Windows side to use the Widcomm drivers. I have downloaded this version and added the mod inf, I even added the VID/PID for my internal Apple Bluetooth device. However, after every install and un-install and re-install I can never get the drivers to recognize this device. I am hopeful some may be able to shed some light on the issue and release me from this nightmare.

TIA
Pete

Did you run the license patcher and reboot afterwards?

I did but I would not be 100% I did it correctly. I opened it set the device to match my internal BTW device and clicked save. Rebooted again and no luck.

Is there a special way to run the license patcher? I could not find very detailed intructions throughout the forums.

Pete
