IEMI problem

Now I know the stance on the issue of changing IEMI, particularly in the UK, so I'm not requesting anything here other than a bit of informed advice.

Basically, my girlfriend bought a razr off Ebay, and it appears to be barred. I have unlocked the phone, and installed a ******* image, and the handset will only recognise T-Mobile or Virgin Simcards (It was supplied on Virgin), but will not allow me to make or accept calls. If an O2 sim is put in there, it just says 'Unregistered SIM' where the network logo should be, and again will not make or receive any calls. I can't even make an emergency call with no sim card in there, it just says 'Call Failed'.

We have processed a paypal dispute with the seller, but basically if that doesn't come off, then she's gonna be left 70 quid down and without a phone. Is there anything that we can do ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The problem is that is illegal in Britain to change an IMEI, so no reputable professional would touch it, and it would cost us twice as much for the clip as we paid for the phone.

Anybody with a clip could probably do it, but it is illegal for anybody to do it other than a registered network.
