L6 not connected problem, is it a USB Driver problem?

I can get it to communicate with Mobile Phone Tools but not any other program such as Flash Backup or Handset Manager. Everything I try does'nt work. Flash Backup tells me the phone is not connected when it is. Is it a USB Driver problem, and where can I get the correct one from. When I plug the phone in to the USb port the PC make the usual noise you get when you plug a USB device in, but when I run Flash Backup it makes the noise that you get when you remove a device, then it does it again 2 or 3 times and the phone is not recognised. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
