E365: official firmware upgrade howto - GSM-Forum

Could someone who has actually upgraded the E365 please review the following howto?

E365 Firmware Upgrade Howto

Things you need:

1. A working communication cable.
If the cable has a driver (like the Prolific PL-2303-based USB cables do),
you need to install it first.

If you have the USB cable and want to change the COM port number:

open Device Manager (from Control Panel - System - Hardware),
choose Ports - MAT USB-to-Serial Bridge - Port Settings - Advanced,
choose the appropriate COM port number from the drop-down.

Test connectivity with the phone before proceeding:

open a terminal program (eg HyperTerm),
connect directly to the COM port your phone is connected to,
choose 57600 baud, 8 databits, no parity, 1 stop bit, no flow control,
type AT, you should get OK in response.

<FIXME: is USB cable OK or is a real RS-232 cable required for FW upgrade?>

2. The firmware files. It seems the latest firmware revision as of 2004-04-09 is 1.48,
you can download it from one of the following links (if these don't work, ask someone to post the files)

You should find the following files in the archive
(get md5sum for checking the sums from http://downloads.activestate.com/con...ows/md5sum.exe)

670 802 bytes, MD5: 9f1b7792274ad2f778a7dba8515749dd *Flex.T66E.63.50.09RSPK.T66.63.50.01_RS232.mot,
4 668 634 bytes, MD5: 39b33d991bd194a514864cdc494aa2c8 *LP.T66E.0.1.48.1.mot,
20 774 146 bytes, MD5: 8365015cc5c9f83128833f68c13b9db1 *T66E.0.1.48.mot.

<FIXME: any other links to working FW? any newer/better/whatever versions?
are the .mot files only usable in Service Tool?
can someone please check the md5sums?>

2. Proper firmware upgrade software. There are two programs I'm aware of (if the links don't work, ask someone to post the programs)

DMTool 2.2.02.1 is old and Service Tool 0.2.0 looks HORRIBLY buggy>

great JOB! I'm looking for USB cable to test this solution.

my phone can not "storing photo" after take a picture, does anyone have experians to repair it? is it sofwtare prb?

Be warned that I haven't upgraded the firmware myself. All the <FIXME: ...> points need to be clarified before actually doing it. Use the instructions at your own risk -- you may waste your phone by doing something wrong. Could someone please post corrections to the <FIXME: ...> parts?

Additional note -- your warranty service may be willing to upgrade the firmware free of charge as the code is known to be buggy.

E365 can't save photo is software bug, you just upgrade software and could be solved. Europe, SEA, China are different. At least, SEA version is this solution.

For error starting application you have to change regional settings in control panel to UK or USA, but how to change sequrity code to 000000 ?

Last week i went to Motorola service in Greece , for an update of firmware.
Don't know what version i had before but when i type #02# in my phone i get the folowing info :
SW Ver 0.1.39.E.
Version Info.
CODE.90.01
BOOT.90.04
FMGR.90.74
FLEX.90.63.O002
LangPack:
LP3_0.1.39.E
ResrcPack:
RSPK.9063.O001

Nothing changed since before, the same bugs.

I see that the version ville_alpha says is newer.
Should they install me 1.48 version ?
Has anybody tried the update that ville_alpha says?
Does E148.zip work for me?

Have you tried what Headmade says above? Change regional settings in control panel to UK or USA to see the normal error message.
I had also an error message in XP but downloaded COMDLG32.OCX and COMDLG32.dll and registered them with the command : REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\COMDLG32.OCX

and it show 3 files , so which file i try to flash it
tell me the procejure that how to flash it

Ok!pals for what i khow is flash cable use serial com port,this is what i saw but i still
try to make one..............TRYING!and most important after flash must enter reset code to reset otherwise the problem will become worse.
