phone unlock question

OK here goes!
I am a newbie and this is my 1st question so go easy on me

I have a LG U8120 network locked to the 3 network and have done a lot of reading on software and cable to use to unlock this phone .

I think i will just will wait till a remote unlock becomes available!
All i basically wanted to know is the remote unlock procedure based upon the IMEI of the phone itself???

When entering "2945#*88110#" into the phone it gives you the option of "UNLOCK USIM" then press "OK" then "NETWORK LOCK" is displayed then press "OK" then the phone askes for the "INPUT NETWORK CONTROL KEY" being 8 numerical digits long!
There must be a mathmatical calculation used to arrive at this KEY that
3 would charge $150 for.

It would be interesting if anybody out there has paid for there unlocking key and what there IMEI number is so that possibly the mathmatical calculation could be worked out!!!!!

Then again i could be just dreaming
