How to solve 9500 PDA (ADL) flashing problems

There was reported by more users 9500 full PDA flashing problems.
This probelms is also confirmed by Nokia in Service Bulletin 013,
released on 24-January-2005. This Service Bulletin can be find here:
http://www.phoenixblackbox.com/ra2-013.pdf

Here is 2 solutions how to solve this PDA flashing problems.

Solution 1 (thanks to Mind):
  • Use PC with clean Windows XP + SP1 instalation.
On this PC have to be PCI USB 2.0 card.
  • Reported working PCI card is shown in first attachament.
  • To this system must be NEVER installed any ADL flash drivers!
  • First install phoenix_service_sw_2004_39_7_70.exe
  • After this, install phoenix_service_sw_2004_46_4_75.exe
  • And after all of this install 9500 flash package
  • This system must be use only for 9500 flashing, because if you put to this sytem 6630, and Win-XP install ADL drivers for this, 9500 PDA flashing no more works well.

Solution 2 (as Nokia say in SB-013.PDF):
  • Flash concept when use PBB is the one with DKU-2 cable (second image in SB-013, FLS-4S connected to LPT port).
  • Regarding to this service bulletin, Windows 2000 MUST be used! Windows XP seems to NOT be supported for this flash concept (check second attachament).
  • All ADL AVALON drivers must be installed correct to work flashing. Check and read SB-013 (pages 3,4,5) how to do this.
  • First flash concept (who is not supported by PBB) have problems on both Win-XP and Win-2000.
  • I recommend to not install any ADL flash drivers on this system too (like 6630 flashing drivers).

Please try both of this solutions and report good or wrong working,
and what PC, Windows, PCI USB card you have used.
Also all written here is valid for Nokia 9300 too.

Best regards,
Zulea

successfuly flashing 9500
i have 9500 that freez on startup so try to flash it
useing win xp sp1
intel pentium 3 processor
799 MHz
256 mb ram
normal usb that built in with motherbord
install phoenix_service_sw_2004_39_7_70-Nov11-002922
thin instal phoenix_service_sw_2004_46_4_75
thin instal phoenix_service_sw_2004_46_5_76_upd
thin install again DRV_FLS4_204
thin instal again flash_update_03_19_000
use both cable fbus and dku-2
whin try first to flash the phone got error mcu did not ack so remove 3.3k resistor from that china cable and connect bsi line directly without any resistor so flashing work ok
for adl avalon driver i use Nokia_Conn_Cable_Driver_137_eng.exe
and in same pc i install ADL drivers for 6630 and flash one 6630 befor start flashing 9500 so thir is no problem if we install driver for 6630 and 9500 in same pc
it work ok with me in same pc for both 6630 and 9500 flashing
