Nokia 6280 dead after flash to 5.92

Hello,

I recently tried to upgrade my 6280 from 3.60 to 5.92 firmware.

I have followed all the guides closely however when the flashing process got to around 98% the phone seemed to disconnect and the process failed. At this point I panicked a bit and after terminating the Phoenix program and doing some more reading I set about trying the dead phone method.

This process will not work. The phone will not power on long enough to establish a USB connection, the screen always remains black.

The error in Phoenix is in the attached screenshots.

I can hear Windows XP play the hardware recognisation tune when the power button on the phone is pressed but a few seconds later the disconnect hardware wav can be heard.

Is there anyway I can recover this? I don't have Jaf or MTBox btw.

TIA

Have you set pheonix to use no connection method. the screen should stay black whilst dead phone flashing takes place.phone should be off when you connect it to usb cable then press power on button when pheonix asks you to.you should then see it install drivers for nokia generic usb rom and parent.

Yes I have tried that method but Windows doesn't prompt for driver installation.

Is there a way to remove these driver assuming that they are on the system somewhere. They don't appear in device manager.

Thanks,

Good news! I managed to bring this phone back to life.

I upgrade to version 156 of Phoenix using the procedure mentioned elsewhere.

Then ran though the dead phone flashing a few times. After a few unsuccessful attempts the flashing process burst into life.

I suspect that it failed previously because of some conflict in the USB drivers.

Hope this info helps others.
