Look.. The DB9 connector should NOT be connected in ANY way with ANYTHING but the COM1 port on the computer. And on the DB9 you should just connect pin 2 with pin 3.. just solder a cable between them or whatever so that they are connected to eachother.

How to use it:

Connect it on COM1 before you start winimei. Start winimei, choose your country and press OK. Then press unlock. If you run something in winimei besides unlock like read settings to check the connection is working then quit winimei and disconnect the DB9. Then reconnect it and start winimei again.

The usb cable should be connected all the time. Make sure you have installed the usb/modem drivers first.

Just want to confirm that the unlock WORKS!

My ipaq 3870 PC-cable has (had) both serial and usb and since I never use the serial contact(DB9) I just cut it off and connected pin 2 and 3 together with small metalthread and then connected to COM1.

It didn´t work on my PC at first but I tried on anotherone and it worked rigth away. Now I will try make GPRS work with other network.

Anyway I wanted to let you know that it worked also for me and thanks reefer45

this was great, unlocked my girlfriends phone with the standard USB-cable and the "DB9 2-3pin" thing

fmobil: you have choose the [00]IMEI on the first screen.. Instead choose your country and operator.

First thing i did was to install the drivers for the phone(CDMADriver.rar). After that i made a backup using EasyStudio(EasyStudio.rar). Then i made the DB9 connector. Just unlocked my own and a friends phone.

When I shorted my comport I used a serialcable and shorted pin 2 and 3 as in the instruction like this (Attached Thumbnail)

The program I used are: QIWS_V1.16(Service)_041011.exe
as instructed in the first thred "started winimei(Z105V1.16.rar) "

I have not been able to make it work yet. WinIMEI complains about the serial connection. I have not made a dongle yet, I just shorted pins 2 and 3 with a paperclip, I will try again with something better. It may also be a problem with too much other stuff in my computer so I might try on a more clean setup.

The CDMA drivers, is it the same ones that are included on the CD with the phone, or some special ones? What is the purpose of the keygen program included, I did not need it to run WinIMEI? I can not change USB modem port on the settings screen, do I need to?

When I looked at the .ini-files (Z105U has a file for Telia, the operator that Swedish Z500's are locked to) and some of the branding is defined in those files, sticky bookmarks, MMS settings and more. Does this part of the branding go away when the phone is unlocked?
