Hello Friends,

MStar Sets are booting in POWER OFF state. No need for pressing power button. In Power on state phones works as USB MASS STORAGE DEVICE.

Are you set correct Pin Outs ?
For booting you need 5 Pin outs. 1.Power 2. Gnd 3.USB+ 4. USB- 5. BOOT (Very Imp)
If you set Pin Outs correctly, then " MStar Phone attached! Device nubmer = x" message shown on your software window.Next press Boot button in software (dont press Phone Power button)

In your Screen shot message is that " Phone can't connect" means fail to send pinout to phone. or wrong selection of Boot Pin.

For reference see my video manual.

Today I got Two sets. Both sets are same brand (Nckia) & same model (E66s). They looks like same to same both Hardware and software (both sets from same manufacturer). But internally both sets are having different Flashing RAMs . 1.NOR_K5L2833ATA 2. Unknown (Flashing Files are different). Both sets having same usb (L5B) connector. So I set L5B pins configuration (I mentioned in this thread).

First one booted as normal

Quote:
Timer: _2011_8_13_23_22_13>> Please press power key until new <usb mass storage> device coming
Timer: _2011_8_13_23_22_14>> Mstar phone attached!
DeviceNumber = 1Timer: _2011_8_13_23_22_15>> Phone connected! Disk:[I]
..ack:0x04000000Timer: _2011_8_13_23_22_15>> Get CPU ID...
03 80 40 00 Timer: _2011_8_13_23_22_15>> [GetChipID]: MSW8533x chip ID detected
Timer: _2011_8_13_23_22_15>> DL->bootstrap_MSW8533x.bin
Timer: _2011_8_13_23_22_15>> DL->lock_MSW8533x.bin
Timer: _2011_8_13_23_22_15>> Target Version =
03 05 06 18 Timer: _2011_8_13_23_22_15>> RAMSize = 0x800000
Timer: _2011_8_13_23_22_15>> NOR Flash:NOR_K5L2833ATA
Timer: _2011_8_13_23_22_15>> FlashSize = 0X1000000
Timer: _2011_8_13_23_22_15>> GetInfos PASS...
But 2nd one not boot

So I changed pin configuration as follows

Only change Boot pin from Index_0 to Index_1 (Other Pins are same)

Now Boot It:

Quote:
Timer: _2011_8_13_23_25_6>> Please press power key until new <usb mass storage> device coming
Timer: _2011_8_13_23_25_7>> Mstar phone attached!

..ack:0x04000000Timer: _2011_8_13_23_25_8>> Get CPU ID...
13 00 00 00 Timer: _2011_8_13_23_25_8>> [GetChipID]: MSW8535x chip ID detected
Timer: _2011_8_13_23_25_8>> DL->MSA01-bootstrap.bin
Timer: _2011_8_13_23_25_9>> DL->bootstrap_MSW8535x_usb.bin
Timer: _2011_8_13_23_25_9>> DL->lock_MSW8535c.bin
Timer: _2011_8_13_23_25_9>> Target Version =
03 05 06 0D Timer: _2011_8_13_23_25_9>> RAMSize = 0x800000
Timer: _2011_8_13_23_25_9>> Don't found flash database,sorry!
Timer: _2011_8_13_23_25_9>> FlashSize = 0X1000000
Timer: _2011_8_13_23_25_9>> GetInfos PASS...
So Friends
Try this method also.

Unfortunately I don't have this type of model Phone.
What type of socket it used?
Generally most Mstar Phones comes with L5B socket. If it has that type socket follow pinouts as i mentioned.
Otherwise follow this small trick.

HOW TO FIND FLASHING PINS IN MSTAR PHONES

Quote:
First you need original Data cable.
Open it and find out POWER, GROUND. USB DATA +, USB DATA - pins

Open SpiderMan Mstar software and set Your tracing Pins in Cable define drop down box [PWR,GND,D+,D-] and press SEND + OK buttons
If your Phone Pin Outs are correct then Phone shoud be enter in Charging Mode in Power Off condition. Otherwise interchange Pin Outs in opposite direction

eg:

Code:
If you have 12 pins socket and 1,2,3,4 pins are set as your PinOuts, then if it fails, set in 12,11,10,9 order.
If you have success (Phone enter in charging Mode) then set Boot Pin
For this:
you will set remaining pins as Index_0 in one bi one order until the Phone give response.
If you are setting Five Pin Outs correctly then Phone will be enter in BOOT MODE
For reference see my video manual
Note:
Some Phones needs to booting set boot pin as Index_1
