right said,3g3gs can downgrade as of now..but for iphone 4g..unless u have ECID BACKUP VIA CYDIA....then no way to downgrade.

hi, im new to phone business. and im finding dificulltys to downgare this iphones. i have got 2 iphone with 4.0.2 firmware and now i have downloaded 4.0.1 firmware to my laptop. and its rar file. now when i click shift button to itunes in dfu mode its asking me to put this fille menually but when i look for this fille i cant see any file. its not coming up. is it because its rar file?????? can any one explain how to install this fille and how to chose and which file when i click shift button? im using xp windows. thanks in advance.

you have to rename the extension for ipsw delete rar and put ipsw

rename the zip/rar firmware

change file extension format to ipsw

sample

iPhone1,1_2.2.rar
to
iPhone1,1_2.2.ipsw
then save

while connected to itunes
hold shift on keyboard then click restore and it will browse
there you need to select your firmware..
