Member: 1024 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 5,510 | Thanks for the offer, but we have our own FPS-10. The thing about emulating is that equals to making standalone flasher in Genie, then just re-routing Phoenix commands to Genie. As you know FPS-10 is fully finished computer, running Linux, it has a lot of RAM (to hold flash files and loaders), drivers, flashing application, etc. Genie is bit underpowered to emulate this box in efficient manner. It could be done just for the fun of it, but i don't think will be a great emulator as it will not match the speed and the stability of this box. BR, Alex |

1) Clone & encapsulate the linux computer into a VMWare appliance. 2) In the VM: patch the interface drivers of it, to talk to a COM port instead (with a protocol of your choice). Include some out-of-band commands for remote-control of the VM (shutdown, etc). 3) On the host: Create a virtual COM port and attach it to the VM. Talk the same protocol, and map it to a physically connected box (like JAF or Genie). 4) Create a small GUI shell to auto-control the VM and manage the physical interface. 5) Bundle all into a single installer. That should do it, except for the copyright issues (seeing that you offer Phoenix and flashfile downloads already, this probably won't bother you much). Best regards

Member: 947561 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 14,053 | They must just complete the nemesis suite and support genie in it.. The on line firmware support is an easy job (sample is navfirm about). After it just put everything together and the job is done. BR Alex |

It's a nice idea, but here few reasons why it will not work: 1. If you open FPS-10 you will see big, fat FPGA. This what makes the FPS-10 good flasher, not the Linux. I this the box sends 4 bytes per 2-3 uS to the phone. Windows at best can handle 15 uS via FLS-5 via 480 Mbits USB, and this is on sunny days only. 2. VMWARE have really bad support for HW devices. For example on Windows and Linux hosts using USB only mass storage devices will work properly (sometimes). If you install Phoenix in VMWARE and try FBUS - it works fine, but flashing will always give errors. So even if we work out the VMWARE bugs, the flashing will be 20 times slower then FPS-10 BR

Member: 1024 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 5,510 | Hi, It is up to Alim. We have public SDK for more then a year. If its easier to him to reverse engineer packed win32 executable to have MTBOX support than using few APIs from our SDK - i can't do a thing about it. BR |
