Anyway, I have a problem because my old iphone 2g motherboard is not powering on (no water damage, not dropped).
Can anybody tell me what test points and voltages should I check?
Wites provided a good testing picture/schematic for iphone 3G but I did not find anything for 1st generation iphone.

Thanks!
Go here and download schematic http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/f631...0/#post8045218

Thanks for the schematic! The fuse is OK (beeps). My battery is dead (2.7V) but it still should to power up when connected to USB right?

Do you have an dc power supply to give externally 3.7V and try power on?
Might be that phone not charge and it not power with charger, you need to charge battery externally if it power on then it have problem with charge.

Correction: the screen stays white for a minute, then shuts off. It doesn't show up in iTunes.

I bought it from internet so I don't know the history but all the components look clean and undamaged (no cracks in black cover around chip etc.)

I actually have 2 iPhone motherboards and both have same problem: boot up but with white screen and then shut off after some time. The second motherboard stays on longer and even shows up in iTunes but then disconnects and iTunes throws connection error. I have tested with 2 LCDs and both stay white (and sometimes show random colored lines).
According to the previous owner both of the motherboards used to work (with some wifi problems) and have since been stored. It would be awesome if I could get one these motherboards to work. I once had iPhone 2g, which was a great device, and I now try to rebuild one iPhone from parts.
Anyway, I separated the boards and chip shields and cleaned the motherboard with isopropyl alcohol and toothbrush but no success.

Thank you for all the help, Wites!

I did not see any cracks in black glue or in any other components even with 40x magnification. Also, pressing the CPU did not make a difference. Is there anything else I can test (voltage checkpoints, ohm readings, continuity etc.)? Thanks!

Ok, some update: I cleaned motherboards again, resoldered batteries and then both motehrboards turned on when I connected to USB! One of the motherboards showed logo on LCD and then switched off. The other motherboard booted up, showed lock screen (and connected to iTunes) and then turned itself off and then restarted itself.

Then I took motherboards apart, tested with multimeter (all coils have continuity (beeped) and all resistors work (no short-circuit)).
Then I connected again to USB and now both motherboards are dead (do not turn on)! I don't understand how this happened and try to sort this out.

For both motherboards, red battery wire is 3,7V and white is 0V (no USB) or 2,1V (USB connected). Green R49 is 990 ohm and shows 3V on right side (no USB) or 4,2V (USB connected) and 3,7V on left side.

Here is a picture of my motherboard (click for bigger size):

Thanks!

Wites,

Regarding that iPhone 3GS that I mentioned a few posts back. The one with the battery problem and error 2009. I noticed it has the old Bootrom. Could that be why it's having this issue?

Your reading show 990ohm.
You see fuse is bad it must short or show 00.2ohm this is less than 1ohm.
Make jumper with wire on it.
