i had the same problem with a 3G. I cleaned the board from corrosion (it has a lot around touchscreen IC) and then reflowed the IC. and now Touchscreen works again

I reflowed BROADCOM BCM6974 (Touchscreen Controller) and NATIONAL SEMICONDUCTOR LM2512AA (Display Interface). Check a iphone Diagram for locations. (this is 3G not 3GS but i guess its kinda the same). just check 3GS diagram before u start.

Hello, I have one Iphone 4 with iOS 4.1 .
I have a bad problem with DFU Loop. The phone was disabled and i "put in pwned DFU mode" with redsn0w0.9.6.rc8 and restore it with iOS 4.1 restore official. And it stucks in DFU mode. I exit recover with redsn0w0.9.6.rc8 with "just boot tethered right now". The phone turn on and everything was ok, till the moment i turn off it. It go in DFU black screen mode again. I tried with greenpoison to jailbreak, try with redsn0w to jailbreak, and it again Loop in DFU mode. When i try to restore with 4.1 Custom firmware Itunes show me Error 14.
Any ideas ? Thanks .

WorldMaster restore your device using iOS 4.3.2, and use redsn0w 0.9.6rc14 to Untethered JB.

redsn0w 0.9.6rc14 - Untethered JB 4.3.2
redsn0w 0.9.6rc15 - Untethered JB 4.3.3

Cheers!

"Error 9
Seems to be a kernel panic. After patching kernel in PwnageTool with custom patches, restore failed with this. iRecovery then showed increased kernel panic count."
