Hi lads, i have problem with acer Aspire 5738/5338 , i get hdd password request .. my problem is also that info on sticker (back of the laptop) is non readable ...
I am unable to go into bios...it asks for password... Any help will be greatly app

update ...i find this on begining of the thread

After entering the wrong password for the third time, you will receive a
decimal number from which the master password can be calculated,

no that i get are 09143

for HDD is not possible to generate password from model with gave error code.

try use software like HDD Unlock Wizard of similar............

P.S. Where you find password for BIOS ??

Not sure what I've done to earn "IGNORE" status or how to correct it. Just looking for advice.

I have a Sony a friend gave me because my sony is crapping out on me (fan won't spin and it overheats - replaced fan already) The bios is password locked but I loaded XP ok.

My questions: do I need to access the bios? I will eventually load Win7. She thinks her ex (passed away now) may have loaded a snoop app into bios. Is that possible?

Someone generated a code a few weeks ago but it didn't work. Am I just screwed?

SERIAL 27505131-3009891
BIOS VERSION R1120Y4
IMAGE ADDRESS F000:0000H

Right now I have the motherboard out looking for a way to short cmos but it dosen't exist.

Appreciate any feedback.
