I appreciate you trying to help edgsam. I might try to do the paperclip short or try to get a used motherboard off of ebay or something if I can't find anything in the near future to fix this one.

Hi, this is a desktop, right.
If so, there is a password jumper on the motherboard that can be used to reset bios password. Google " Dell Dimension 5150 motherboard" and look at images. There should be at least one layout that will show you where the jumper is located.

Dont know if this will be any good to you guys ? But ive found it usefull on many occasion in the past.....

Dell Bios Reset.iso

It will reset all bios passwords including bios/pop/hdd.
Allows you to change service tag etc

if you have hdd password then remove the hdd , forcing it to boot from disk
