on Computer we have the POST.
is there some thing similar on phones (NOKIA for example)

Yeh, startup self tests..

Different phones test different things in different ways!
But they all test common things such as hardware, ram, software checks...

Thats why you'll get "Contact Service" or "See Provider" on some phones- the tests have failled in these cases and the phone refuses to startup!

I dont have very detailled info tho so maybe someone else could advise...
