WRONG SOLUTION-------!!! DOESNT MATTER WHAT WITH USB CABLE YOU WORK. IT IS JUST CONFLICTION WITH OTHER SMART CARD DRIVER WITH BB5 SMARTCARD. I have this same error first "dipu" and what i only did was updating the driver with box conected. i also have setool/polar/scard etc, and din´t uninstall them. and my BB5 works perfect too. But maybe it depends on the pc .

I have a problem with Smartcard > ERROR : cannot connect to BB5 Box Smartcard Subsystem .

i am change the usb cable many times,whats problem ?

i do know how to manage all driver in 1 computer, but bb5 doesnt suit into my computer with other drivers. Cable is not a fact for that error, certainly!! i use seperate computer with same cable that works. Not only with mine but with friends too so cable solution is not a good solution. My solution is for newbie like me. You may be a maestro into GSM unlocking but cable solution is not a correct solution. just ask urself why the same cable work fine with a computer wich not contain any other smartcard driver Driver do conflict each other as you know the case of USTpro2 driver. It must install after all other driver installed...so driver is a fact not the cable.

Hi,

I also have this problem. Computer do not ask for USB Smart Card Reader - driver..?? why not ?

I have try to install the box on 2 diff. computeres, but it's same problem.

(Without ftdi ic its same problem.)
Try to change the ftdi drivers.

2.
- open the hardware connect's page on your pc
- search: Ports (Com and LPT)
- Search: USB Serial port (Comx) The "x" its your com port number. In my settings its 4.
- delete: USB serial port (Comx)
- disconnect the box then reconnect.
- New drive found! Install the driver. You find the drivers here: FTDI_DRIVERS_BB5BOX
- Start the program

1. i have 4 usb cables
2. i have a clean computer just win xp and some music ang games
3. i have instal and reinstall sw and tun off comp and nothing

when te bb5box is connected has 2 red light than botton blue and upper green

SAME problem for me..!
11 usb cable..in 6 FREE PC'S ,hundred time install drivers,it's impossible!
i was open the box,i change sim into the box,i controll at microscope but nothing.in my PC i have a usb BB5Box hors controller and one NO recognized device whitout driver and NO aggionable! maybe box is damaged!

Ok now the box works!!!

My friend has the bb5box to and it works on hic comp, than we connect my bb5box on his cable on his comp end the error was still here.
than we try his box on my comp and his box again works
we just change bb5box not usb cable or drivers !!

than we oppen my bb5box and clean it
with alcohol and we remove and clean smart card than put it back put all together
now it works on all 4 comp and 3 of them has setool ust pro jaf ... and the one (mine) is clean just bb5box
we didnt put new driwers on comp we just connect the box

maybe u can try with that

solution is simple all you have to do is open the box up take out smart card clean it and make sure it is in properly then put box back together it will work 100% ,this is normally the case as in travel of the box the smart cards gets loose from its cage

JUST use latest driver, by choosing manually when computer search driver. then use Use Disk, then choose the inf. file from Smart card ftdi driver then Update smart card driver by choosing same manuel method of choosing driver works like charm With ANY USB cable, With Any smart card driver previously installed. enjoy!!
