So thanks to partapmobile, and MPhoneClinic.

1 - I downloaded TinyUmbrella (google it, you'll find a link)
2- Run TinyUmbrella. Click Advanced Option. Select 3Gs 4.01. Select Cydia. Save SHSH.
3 - Same steps as above but Select 3Gs 4.0.2 (cant be too safe)
4 - Edited Local host to say following: 74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com
5 - Rebooted iPhone into Recovery Mode, chose 4.0.1 IPSW

And voila, it worked.

I know i'm probably not creditable because this is my 4th post, but I had a 3Gs with no SHSH saved ever. Followed these steps and officially downgraded to 4.0.1.
Thank you very much! You gave me the idea to make the new umbrella. :-)
For 4.0-3GS was I could not do it!

Old umbrella 4.0 read shsh
new umbrella 4.01 shsh found. :-)

YES it's really works! Iphone 3Gs with new bootrom version 3.1.2, shsh never saved. Firstly i've entered manually my ECID, which i could get with ECID Grabber (because set was in recovery mode) then chosen 3gs 4.0.1, Requset from: Cydia. And pushed save my SHSH button, after i started TSS server and could normally update to 4.0.1. Today is august, 26. Before this for 2 hours I couldn't udpate to 4.0.1. I also saved SHSH for version 4.0, when I push Dislpay SHSHs, I could see there 2 versions=4.0 and 4.0.1. I've used TinyUmbrella 4.01.08

When you saved shsh for 4.0, then probably Saurik saved the 4.0.1 for you also (automatically). Therefore you had 4.0.1 saved on Cydia. Without saved shsh you cannot downgrade. But yes, I recommend all users to try it.

After August 19, Apple doesn't issue 4.0.1 certificates anymore. If they are not stored for your phone anywhere (neither Cydia, nor on your PC), you cannot downgrade to 4.0.1. Only old phones like the 3G can be downgraded without shsh.

4.0.2 cannot be jailbroken. Only 3G (and 3GS old bootrom?) with redsn0w. But yes, if you can downgrade to 4.0.1 you can. Many 3GS users can downgrade, because their shsh certificate backup is on Cydia, maybe even without your knowledge. So try it!
