SmartKey is really not good at all...

I've purchased SmartKey dongle about a 2 weeks ago.
So far I'm not impressed with it's features.

For example, I've tried flashing KU990 VDF New Zealand Phone with
ESA Hong Kong Version firmware which I've downloaded from support
web site. It always failed with AMSS uploading [partition] Error.

My guess is SmartKey encrypted the flash files with their own format but
something must have gotten wrong (e.g AMSS Partition Table Files)

And for LG KP100 I've tried to flash it with Chinese Version Firmware,
But then phone didn't even turned on at all!!!!

So what did I do in the end? Purchased different Tool Box. I've actually
purchased 'Vygis ToolBox' and flashed the KP100 again to make it work.

Vygis is good but less flash files on their support server. But stability is
way better than SmartKey. It backs up the NV2 file properly while
SmartKey doesn't seem to doing it. (I was not able to find the backed up
NV2 file)

If this whole crap of complain is due to lack of my PC spec, then I apologize
deeply from my heart and I would be very very sorry. But if it's not,
then SmartKey should fix this kinds of problem as soon as humanly possible.
And we should have learned the lesson, that How may files in Support
Server does not make a certain tool good, but the reliability & support effort
from the team makes it BEST!!!

A few explanations: if the error turns out while flashing AMSS, this is due to insufficient RAM in your PC. Files are coded and then decoded in RAM, what blocks RAM when other software is running in the background. It makes the program unstable. That is why , there have been no updates for some time, as you have noticed, because the software is being recreated once agian and files are being coded ina a diffrent way. Unfortunately, there are only two of us and it has to take some time. There is a bookmark "about" in the software, in which you can find my sonork that enables contact with me ASAP.I will always reply.I've no idea what's wrong with KP 100 as I did several KP 100 phones yesterday succesfully. Give the details what flashes you were using.

@Smartkey.eu.
Did you only read this post ??????
Why you only answered to this one ?????
what about others users ( incluiding me), that are facing some troubles with your dongle????
Dont we deserve all at least just to be answered?????

I had as well, that problem, when the software was flashing AMMS, just few seconds later.......error.
You say its about, amount of RAM in the PC. WHY THEN OTHERS FLASHES DO ALL THE PROCESS WITHOUT ANY ERRORS??????? RAM IN THE PC IS THE SAME, AND SOME FLASES ARE RIGHT FLASHED AND SOME NOT.

Avoiding openning a new post, I ask you here again:
Have you any NV file for model HB620T, that repairs the not network problem, after flashing with your dongle?????????

Thanks.
Regards.

@ Smartkey.eu.
As already told you in one other post, Your file was fine, and worked like a charm.

But, can you please then just explain us the problem about flashing, why some flashes do all the process trhough fine till the end, and some others when begin flashing AMSS, it breaks the process and finish with an error???????
As you say, its caused due to a lack of RAM in the PC, but why then some do right and some don´t, if RAM is the same in the PC ?????

Its not a big deal, just for curious, for learning, and for improving your soft, and if its the case mine/ours PC´s.

Regards again.

Thank you for the reply SmartKey.eu

First of all, that was quick response from you. I didn't mean to be rude
to anyone in anyway, so if I did, I apologise for that.
I have to admit I didn't make myself quite clearly so I'll write it again
with all the details as much as I can.

I'll start with LG KP100. We've got these KP100 from UK and firmware is
either TESCO or VIRGIN UK version firmware installed. Now I wanted to
install Chinese version so we can offer this phone to Chinese speaking
customers as well.

I've downloaded file called "KP100-00-V10d-460-XX-JAN-07-2008_CHN.lpk"

I've started SmartKeyLGKE (ver.0.1.23.0) and setup the port to COM4
(which is setup with Infinity ToolBox's virtual COM port) and flahsed it.
Here is the progress details.

************************************************** ****************************************
Loading file ... KP100-00-V10d-460-XX-JAN-07-2008_CHN.lpk ... Ok. File Info :

KP100-00-V10d-460-XX-JAN-07-2008
************************************************** ****************************************
Buffering flash file ... please wait.
KP100-00-V10d-460-XX-JAN-07-2008.fls

Push power button. (waiting 8 sec)
Start download. ( COM4 )
Device synchronized.
Boot-loader is active.
Com speed set to : 921.600 KB/s
Flash ID is: 11A 1
Sending pack...
Successful.
End.
*

Once it's finished, I've tried to turn it on but it wasn't turning on at all.
This one I had to reflash it with "Vygis ToolBox" to make it work again.
Of course with Chinese Firmware as well. I hope you can give us some good solution
with this one and an explanation of what could have gone wrong. The only guess I can
think of is wrong encryption. I hope I'm wrong but because SmartKey has so far shown
me some problem with Flashing with Asian Spec Firmware that's how I got to that
assumption. As I said before, this is just my guess. NOT A FACT!!! So please correct
me if I'm wrong.

Next is LG KU990 Viewty. This is NEW ZEALAND Vodafone branded model with NETWORK UNLOCKED.
The firmware is KU990-MSM6280-V10f-DEC-09-2007-XX from what SmartKey says in info screen.
One funny thing is it asks if I want to backup NV2 or not. I click "YES" to back up the
NV2 file on its specific IMEI folder but if I go search the folder, nothing is there.
e.g C:\Program Files\SmartKey\LG\NVBackup\KU990\35xxxx-xx-xxxxxx-x -> Not a single file is
there. SmartKey only creates the folder but doesn't backup the file. Didn't make any
difference even I manually go to Tools -> NV Read. SmartKey failed to make backup for NV2.
Here's the info screen before I select the Flash file. I used SmartKeyLG ver 0.1.44.1

Status : Phone Connected - COM7 [ Normal Mode. ]

Now sice I wanted to install Chinese version firmware so I downloaded the file from
your support site.

File is "KU990-DZ-V10g-AUG-12-2008-ESA.lpk".

There was "Fix Media" option but I didn't touch it. I just left it for UK-(0)UK.
As I mentioned in previous post it fails with an error message which now I've seen
more than a dosen times.

Here is what the progress screen shows...

As you can see on the bottom part, it says "NVM Reading" but even then I checked the
folder it created but no NV2 file was there. If I try install another flash file like
European or Open version, the flash progress go fine without any error.
Here is the progress screen..

You can see SmartKey has managed to flash the KU990 NZ version to UK version firmware
without the AMSS error. Isn't that Odd? My PC supposed to have insufficient RAM and
should have error just like when I tried to flash KU990 NZ to ESA version. But it didn't!
Hmm... I wonder why?

Similar error can be seen with flashing LG KF700. It was installed with Hong Kong version
firmware but I wanted to install the updated version so I downloaded the file

DZ_KF700-V10c-JUL-18-2008-HKG_HKG.lpk

Again it fails with an AMSS Uploading Error. The actual error message was

************************************************** ****************************************
NVM Reading... Ok.
AMSS Uploading... Error. [48xx]

Again. No NV2 file was backed up. SmartKey.eu has told me this must be caused by
insufficient RAM in my PC, then can you please explain why I can flash my KU990 with
UK version flash files without any problem?

And just to make sure SmartKey is installed in my laptop. Here is the Spec.

DELL Inspiron 2200

CPU : Intel Celeron M Processor @1.30GHZ
RAM : DDR 768MB
HDD : 60GB 5400rpm
OS : Microsoft Windows XP Pro SP3 English Version

Now I want to make things clear. I DON'T WANT TO MAKE SMARTKEY A BAD PRODUCT!!
I DON'T WANT SMARTKET TO END UP LIKE ULT-PRO DID!!! AND THAT'S WHY I'M COMPLAINING
ABOUT YOUR PRODUCT HARD!! TO PUSH THE TEAM TO MAKE IT PERFECT OR NEAR IT!!!
I bought SmartKey because of the amount of flash files in their support server.
I have to admit I think no other LG tools have that kind of amount of flash files
supported for LG mobiles. That was the strong point of smartkey. And I really hope
that the team should see these problems from customers view. You can say that smartkey
may be still in development or in Beta status, but think about the people who bought
or will buy your product for few hundred dollars and realize it's not working properly.
You told me you only have two people in the team, but that's just an excuse and cannot
be justified in anyway. Thank you for reading this and I'll look forward to hear from
you soon.
