No you're wrong, this area is really connected to the lcd screen. I guess this is the power supply/regulator for the LCD pixel bias or something like that.

To explain lets see the problem I had:

I had the picture (apple logo and so on) but the image was bright, the colors was Pale and Fade. I searched for a while on the logic board before to find this website.

My mother board was dammadged with watter which vapourized a lot of copper/wire on the PCB and then cut connection between components.

I removed the can and I repaired the failure:

and

The original components are 0201. But as I didn't have this kind of part I used 0402 components instead to repair the broken components.
I had 3 problems: the main 3.2V was cut (vapourized),
On resistor of 30 Ohm had its leads vapourized too, and the diode had its pads also vapourized. I've repaired the via thanks to some soldering, and I've replaced the faulty components with 0402 instead of 0201 (it was a really pain in the ...).

Now have a look:

Now my iPhone is working like the first day and I'm really satisfied. I've replaced the can and cleanned the flux and everything is ok now.

I appologize for the bad quality of my photos and to the fact that I forgot to take pictures before to "operate" my logic board, but you know, in the action....

Thanks again for your help and I hope that my post will help someone else.

Best Regards

Guileukow
